Kentwood, MI – The Grace Christian softball team wrapped up its first ever fall season over the weekend with a double header hosting Grand Rapids Community College.
In the doubleheader, the Tigers played hard and were able to match the Raiders in multiple innings, but ended up dropping both games by scores of 10-2 and 13-2.
Emma Balkema struck out an impressive 12 batters in the first game, pitching 6 1/3 innings. At the plate in game one, Skylar Lowe and Emma Balkema each notched a double and single, while Tammy Perrotta and Carlee DeVries also recorded hits for Grace.
In game two, Renee Viles-Gable led the offense with two hits and an RBI, but again it would not be enough to get past GRCC.
This concluded the Tigers’ fall which was filled with 6 scrimmages and 8 weeks of practice. Coach Clark had this to say heading into the offseason, “We were very pleased with where the girls are starting from. Grace softball now has a solid foundation to build from, and the team feels very motivated heading into offseason workouts.”
Grace’s first spring test will come on a road trip to Kentucky to face the Eagles of Alice Lloyd College on February 22nd and 23rd.
