Wyoming, MI – The Grace Women’s Softball team recently signed Kaliann Newberry of Vancouver, Washington. Newberry, daughter of Shawn and Joanna Newberry, started playing at 4 years old in Little League and has been playing ever since, from club to a three year varsity starter for Heritage High School.

The 5’7″ catcher/third baseman had a career batting average of .413 and a career fielding percentage of .938. Kaliann was a 2022 GSHL first team all-league catcher and 2023 GSHL second team all-league catcher.

On her signing, Newberry stated, “I am super excited to attend GCU and am really looking forward to growing in my faith and meeting new people!”

Grace Head Coach Jeremy Clark added, “Kaliann is a quality individual and very athletic. As a catcher she receives the ball with precision and has a strong arm to go with a strong bat and solid glove in the field. She will be another terrific building block heading into year two of Grace softball.”
