Baseball continues to add depth to the 2023 roster as they signed both catcher Joe Wise out of Lake Odessa, MI, and outfielder Brady Unthank out of Byron Center, MI last week.
“Both of these players will be big additions to the team next year,” says Coach Wolfe. “They both have great potential and I’m excited to see what they both accomplish in their 4 years here.”
Wise comes from the high school baseball powerhouse, Barry County Christian, the same high school current player Jared Garnaat comes from. A 4-year varsity player, Joe has garnered All-Conference along with being named Defensive Player of the Year in his sophomore year. He is a leader on his team both defensively and offensively, boasting a career batting average well above .300. Wise also plays basketball and soccer for Barry County, and he hopes to study Business at Grace. Joe chose Grace Christian “because of the focus on Christ and the smaller size of the school. Coming to a newer program excited me as well, allowing me the opportunity to make a larger impact.”
Unthank comes from another strong high school baseball program at Byron Center. Coming off a district championship last year, Brady hopes to finish his senior campaign strong with yet another regional appearance. “I chose Grace Christian because of the vision that the coaching staff for the program and the high goals they set for the team,” stated Unthank. Brady will be studying Exercise Science and playing his summer ball this year with the Ottawa County A’s in the collegiate based Shoreline League.
Grace Christian Baseball is always looking towards the future, but are also about to kick-off their 2023 spring campaign. Their first game of the spring is set for March 3rd in Chicago, IL against Trinity Christian College.
