Softball – Coming Next Year!

Apr 4, 2022 | Softball

The Grace Christian University athletics department is excited to announce the official launch of a softball program to begin in the 2022-23 season. With the addition of baseball this season, the softball program’s launch has been just a matter of time, and the program will hit the ground running next year under the leadership of Head Coach Jeremy Clark.

Coaching college softball adds to quite the journey for Jeremy the past couple decades, as he practiced law for six years, served in Costa Rica for eight years with Grace Ministries International, and since 2012, he has been the Executive Director of GMI which has its stateside offices on the campus of Grace Christian University.

“Starting a softball program at Grace will be another fun challenge to tackle,” commented Clark. “Integrating the Christian faith, teamwork and life lessons while competing on the field will be a privilege for players and coaches.”

Clark has coached softball at various levels.  He had the privilege of serving on the coaching staff of three youth Michigan state championship teams.  He is also the head coach of a West Michigan high school travel team which, over the past four seasons, the coaching staff has developed into a highly competitive and formidable squad.

“I love the strategy, speed and excitement of softball,” added Clark. “It is so satisfying to watch a group of ladies play and execute as a well-oiled machine.”

The Grace campus has a seldom used softball field that will be brought back to life for practice use, and as of now will be exploring multiple field options in the surrounding area to host home games in the Spring of 2023. Similar to baseball, they will be members of the NCCAA’s Midwest Region but will also compete against NAIA and NCAA competition in the area and around the country.

If you are a high school softball player, or know of any players that are looking for an opportunity to compete at the next level, please contact jeremy@gracem.org or fill out our recruit form, here.
