Under Head Coach Greg Fleener at Oakridge, Isabella has been a member of the varsity squad since her freshman season and enjoyed a breakout year as a junior in 2021, earning All-District, All-Region, and All-State honorable mention honors. In addition to all of these accolades and being the top-ranked goalkeeper in the district, Isabella also has been an honor roll student throughout all of her high school years and has been an All-Conference scholar athlete (for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher). She is also a member of the National Honor Society and is a standout in the Oakridge Honors Band.
Aside from competing for her school, Isabella has been a player for the Muskegon SC Wolves, captaining her team for the past three years.
Isabella spoke on what tilted the scales towards Grace Christian University for her academic and athletic pursuits.
"I chose Grace Christian University for my future college because the distance from there to home isn’t too far, I was offered a really great experience for soccer, and as I visited Chapel and met all these amazing and extremely nice staff members and students, I was so incredibly happy. I knew that I wanted to play soccer, but also have a great option for my career in Physical Therapy. I knew I wanted to be close to home where if I needed some assistance then my family and friends were right by my side. My decision was pretty easy after I left Grace a few weeks ago, I knew that this was the one for me. This college awakened a new view of life when I visited, and I could for the first time actually see myself going to Grace next Fall."
Head Coach Mike Riemersma added some comments on his newest goalkeeper.
“We are thrilled to add Izzy to this year’s class. After watching her film and talking with her we knew she would be a great fit and addition to our program. She has the work ethic and commitment to putting in the work to achieve her goals. Between her and Madison (Luxmore) we have added two hard working blue collar players, which is what we are looking for, and a great start to our 2022 class. Finding a goalkeeper of her ability is a really good get for us. I think she will fit in great with our team and will push our current and incoming players to be better. We are adding some really good players but we are adding even better people. That’s what I’m excited about. Character matters to me and to our program and Izzy is a great example of that.”
Isabella, who will be pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, will join a Grace soccer team that finished last season in the top 5 in the NCCAA DII.
