Graduating courageous ambassadors for Christ who make an eternal impact wherever they go.

There are exciting changes happening at Grace Christian University! We can’t wait to share our new mission statement with you: “Graduating courageous ambassadors for Christ who make an eternal impact wherever they go.”

We want to take the time to explain why we chose this new mission statement for Grace, and why it matters.

The Grace Christian University Difference

Grace Christian University is a Christian college located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are dually accredited by both the Higher Learning Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education.

Grace has been striving to make an eternal impact in the lives of our students and community for over 50 years

So, how do we do this? By providing a high-quality education with a solid foundation in Scripture. The Grace Christian University campus life and academics are rich with opportunities for students to grow in their faith. Students will be sharpened by both peers and faculty throughout the course of their studies.

Why the New Mission Statement?

So, why did Grace decide to form a new mission statement now?

As the college grows and our vision as a university is clarified, we want to make sure our mission statement reflects who we are.

1 Corinthians 14:8 says, “If the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?” That’s why at Grace, we want our mission to be loud and clear. One of the important Grace Christian University benefits is that students know what we’re aiming for. By this, they can be confident that they are being prepared to make an eternal impact.

Forming a new mission statement is an important way to clarify our vision as a college, and inspire faculty and students toward our unified goals.

Our New Mission Statement Explained

What do we mean when we say our mission is graduating courageous ambassadors for Christ who make an eternal impact wherever they go? We’re glad you asked! Here’s what we mean:

“Graduating courageous ambassadors for Christ. . .”

The first half of 2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us.” An ambassador is essentially a representative. As Christians, we are called to be representatives of Christ on earth, spreading the kingdom of God as Christ did in His earthly ministry.

But, the world is often unwilling to hear this message of truth and reconciliation. It takes courage to stand for the truth in a world of confusion and compromise. This is why we’ve made it our mission to train up students to be courageous ambassadors for Christ.

Many college-aged Christians feel unequipped to answer the world’s questions about the truth. This leads them to feel insecure about their faith and tempted to hide it or be swayed away from it. At Grace Christian University, we are dedicated to empowering students to be confident Christians who are courageous ambassadors for Christ.

“. . . who make an eternal impact wherever they go”

What does it mean to “make an eternal impact?” The language of “eternal” things is not foreign to Christians. In fact, our whole faith is in the promise of eternal life!

1 Timothy 6:12 says, “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

At Grace, we believe equipping students to fight the good fight of faith has an eternal impact on their futures. As courageous ambassadors for Christ, the work they do in both their careers and in ministry will have long-term benefits for the kingdom.

How Grace Christian University Achieves the New Mission Statement
