Isabelle Campos​

Hi, my name is Isabelle Campos. I’m a senior here at Grace Christian University.

I think we emphasize our core values here a lot. Just the professors’ love for our core values makes it so much easier because they’re also passionate about the core values themselves.

They always teach us the psychology way of looking at it, and then they always integrate the biblical perspective way of looking at it as well.

You know, one of the phrases that I use often is, “Nobody really cares what we know until they know how much we care.” Caring about people first is creating that space.

Because I’ve built so many good relationships and friendships with the professors here, it sounds weird, but you really do get to know your professors. You can ask them questions, talk about life, and they seem to really care.

It just really shows in the way they teach because the way they teach is for you. It’s like, “How can I help you and serve you in a way that you’re going to be able to learn this curriculum and this stuff as well as anyone else? And if you’re struggling in a certain area, what can we do to make that better?”

We really learned that there’s psychology in every field that you go into. I’m very grateful for the opportunities that I’ve had here. I will be taking my Psychology degree and using it in my business.

What I feel like God’s put on my heart is counseling. Specifically the age range of middle school to high school. I just really think it’s super important for our kids to have that foundation of faith as well.

Obviously, not every kid is the same, and every kid comes from a different place and experience, but just having that heart posture and that love for a kid in that Christlike manner. Just knowing that unconditional love and meeting their needs for where they’re at, I think changes the way that people can counsel.

I think it’s so important. Even if you’re not talking about faith, it’s just the heart posture and the way that you can relate to people with the love of Christ is so important.
