There are very few moments in the life of a university that carry as much meaning and emotion as our yearly Commencement ceremony.
Last week, on May 2nd, hundreds of family and friends gathered together at Rush Creek Bible Church. They came together to celebrate the nearly 200 graduates of Grace Christian University as they were conferred their diplomas. As we prepared for that day, we were mindful that Commencement is more than a ceremony. For our graduates and their loved ones, it marks an important milestone, the end of years of study, perseverance, and spiritual growth. The ceremony is also the beginning of a new chapter in their lives as they answer their calling in their communities and workforce.
Each of these graduates has an important story. For many, the journey included long semesters, late nights, and personal challenges. It also included meaningful moments shared with classmates and friends. Some balanced classes while working full-time jobs, raising families, or navigating unexpected hardships along the way. Others stepped onto our campus uncertain of what the future held for them. Through both the struggles and the victories, God has been at work in their lives. By His grace, we believe they are well-equipped to take the next step.
A New Beginning
We often think of graduation as a finish line, but in fact, it is more of a starting point.
In just a short time, these graduates will step confidently into workplaces, ministries, churches, and communities. In those circles, their faith will be lived out in real and meaningful ways. They will carry with them the knowledge they have gained at Grace, as well as the character that has been shaped during their time here. Proverbs reminds us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” (Proverbs 16:3, NIV). This is our prayer for every graduate. May they would move forward with confidence, trusting God to guide them on their way as they serve Him wherever He leads.
A Year of Faithfulness
At the end of every academic year, I take time to reflect on what God has done at Grace. I especially think about His faithfulness throughout the past two semesters. This has been a good year for the University. We have seen our students grow academically, spiritually, and personally. There continues to be a growing hunger for God’s Word in our on-campus and online programs. We have also experienced God’s provision in tangible ways, including the financial strength that allows us to continue this mission with clarity.
None of this happens by accident.
It is the result of faithful students who are willing to grow, dedicated staff and faculty who invest daily in their lives, and ministry partners like you who believe in the work we do at Grace. We are deeply grateful to you.
Our Shared Mission

Commencement is always a powerful reminder of the fulfillment of this mission statement. It reminds me that this mission is bigger than any one of us, and it is being lived out daily by our graduates (both past and present). Your prayers, encouragement, and generosity make this possible. You are a very real part of every life shaped here and of every impact that extends beyond our campus. As we look ahead to this season of new beginnings, I invite you to continue partnering with us in this important work. There are many challenges ahead, yet we boldly trust God in all that He will do in the days to come.
