Wyoming, MI – Women’s Soccer hosted the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers for their season opener. The game was held at Velting Field on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Coming into the season, Grace Tigers have a lot of excitement as they look to build around a young and talented group.
This one proved to be a tough battle. Both teams spent the duration of the game battling for possession and there was solid defense played on both sides. Despite this, the Tigers were able to create a couple of scoring chances for themselves early in the first half. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to find the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Kenna Hill put together a solid performance in goal. She came up with 10 saves on the day, keeping the Trailblazers off the board. With just 2:50 left in regulation, Samantha Crownover delivered a deep pass to America Carreno. She found some open space and found the back of the net to score her first collegiate goal.
This goal proved to be the winning goal. The Tigers defense would hold for the final two minutes. They would go on to secure a 1-0 shutout victory in their season opener.
The Tigers look to ride this momentum into this week as they travel down south to take on Alice Lloyd College on Thursday at 1pm, and then finish out the week at Kentucky Christian University on Saturday at 12pm.
