Grace Christian University is excited to announce four new inductees to their athletics Hall of Fame for the class of 2026!
Please join us on Thursday, September 24 at 6:30 pm in the Aldrich Athletic Center for a banquet dinner celebration. This event will include the official induction ceremony for these four outstanding recipients.

Maddie (Brown) Anderson – Soccer
Maddie is the #1 all-time goal scorer in Grace Christian University women’s soccer history with 90 career goals. She is also 3rd All-Time in Assists. As a senior, Maddie was named the Regional Player of the Year in 2019. In that year, she scored the most goals (30) and recorded the most points (70) ever in a season for a Grace player. She was a 4-time 1st Team All-Region recipient and a 3-time All-American.
Maddie graduated from both Grace with a degree in Biblical Studies and Cornerstone University with a bachelors of science with honors in 2020.
Gerry Verwey – Cross Country/Track & Field
In the last decade, Gerry Verwey has taken the XC program to new heights, leading the men’s team to a 3rd place finish in 2015 in the nation and the women to a 2nd place finish in 2023, and 4 total Top 5 finishes overall. He has coached four All-Americans, one two-time National Champion (Kim Buskirk), and 13 NCCAA Scholar-Athletes. Gerry was named the ROOTED Athletic Department Staff Member of the year in 2023. Above any accolade, Coach Verwey has instilled a family culture within the Grace XC and Track and Field program. This is a program that honors Christ with a high emphasis on loving and serving others in the surrounding community.
Coach Verwey concluded 2025 as his final year as the program’s Head Coach. He remains on staff as an Assistant Coach alongside XC alum Kristina Brandenburg.
Kim (Buskirk) Proctor – Cross Country/Track & Field
Kim is the most decorated runner in Grace Christian University history. She has two individual National titles in Cross Country, placing first in DII in 2018 and 2019 after finishing 7th and 2nd in her first two seasons. Kim added a National Championship in the 5k in Track and was an All-American in Track and Field in the 800m race as well. She was awarded the Ray Bullock Award in 2018 – the highest honor given to a runner within the NCCAA as a senior. Kim holds multiple records at Grace. These include the top spot in the 5k for Cross Country with a time of 19:30.3 as well as the 6k with a time of 23:42.2.
Kim has her Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and an MA in Organizational Leadership from Grace. Following those achievements, she went on to earn her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan. She currently is an outpatient therapist at the Christian Counseling Center at Pine Rest Mental Health Services. She continues to participate in distance running at a very high level, running in numerous marathons and competitive races for Gazelle Elite.
Josh Armstrong – Soccer
Josh Armstrong was an elite player for the Tigers men’s soccer program from 2009-2013. During his time at Grace, Josh was a 3-time team Captain, 2-time All-Region Player, 2 time All-American and 3-time Team MVP. He scored 23 goals throughout his career and added 5th all time in career assists with 24.
He graduated from Grace and Davenport University with his degree in Biblical Studies and Business Management. Upon graduation, Josh joined the coaching staff at Grace. He has been a part of 7 Regional Championships and 8 National Tournament appearances. This has ushered in an era where Grace soccer has reached new heights.
