Kurt Classen
Assistant Professor of Communication, Manager of Dual Enrollment

B.A. Communication – Spring Arbor University
M.S. Communication – Walden University

Kurt teaches all areas of communication and is a passionate public speaker and performer. Kurt has experience as a sports broadcaster, stand-up comedian, and athletic coach. He loves helping students gain confidence in their communication skills and believes in the power of sharing your story with others as a tool to spread the love of Christ.

In the summer, one of Kurt’s favorite places to be is the ball field as a Little League coach with his son and daughter. He is married to his wife, Sarah, who is an elementary school teacher. Local elementary school students look forward to visits from Kurt, who teaches life lessons as a guest in class with puppets and juggling.

He credits his determination in life to growing up working the demanding job of corn field detasseler from a young age. Spring Arbor University honored Kurt with their highest honor a student can receive, the Concept in Action Award, given to one student per year who most closely embodied the values and goals of the University.
