Tennis battles weather, tough competition at Alma College

Apr 18, 2022 | Women's Tennis

Alma, MI – The Grace women’s tennis team battled windy and cold conditions along with their opponent Alma College over the weekend, eventually falling to the Scots 9-0. The men’s team participated as well, but the game was recorded as an exhibition.

The majority of flights saw the Tigers take multiple games from the Scots without being able to get over the hump, with the #2 doubles team of Ellie Simmons and Ashleigh Welty coming the closest out of the bunch as they fell in a tiebreaker 6-4 after winning 7 games each to start the match.

"Despite the conditions, the team worked hard, and continues to show improvement," said Grace Head Coach Jon Bushen.

The Tigers close out their season that has been moved around quite a bit to due a harsh early Spring season of weather with a home match at Grandville High School against Lourdes University and Concordia University-Ann Arbor on April 30.
