Tigers Baseball Edges MCC On The Road

Box Score Muskegon, MI – Your Grace Christian Tigers Baseball squad made the short trip to Muskegon for a 9 inning match up against the Jayhawks of Muskegon Community College (MCC) on Tuesday, March 21st. 

The Tigers would open up the game at the bat. After an early walk AJ Scott would score from a Dylan Thomas ground to short. Ending the 1st inning 1-0, Tigers. In the second, The Jayhawks would set things even in the 2nd. Going into the top of the 3rd 1-1. 

In the 3rd inning, the Tigers started to find a rhythm at the bat and would take the lead with Alex Bonnema & Dylan Thomas scoring off a Carter Willis at bat. In the 4th inning, Tigers would remain up 3-1 and would find a single run to extend the lead to 4-1 from a Dylan Thomas single to right, allowing Caiden Mead to score a run. 

Fast forward to the top of the 6th, the game is still 4-1. That is until Dylan Thomas tripled to center allowing Josh Egberts & AJ Scott to both reach home plate. In the bottom of the 6th, MCC would answer back with a pair of runs. Ending the 6th 6-3 in favor of Tigers. In the 7th inning, the Tigers would give life to the Jayhawks allowing 4 runs against and flipping the lead 7-6. 

The 8th inning was all Tigers, scoring 6 runs to answer back after a sluggish 7th. Scoring for the Tigers in the 8th were: Josh EgbertsAJ ScottTyler ThomasDylan ThomasMatt Hoonhorst & Eric Whiting. Entering the top of the 9th, the Tigers would continue to find success and get a pair of runs in. Matt Hoonhorst scoring off a single by Eric Whiting. Not long after, Jaden Schoeneman stepped up to the plate and hit a double to left. Allowing Carter Willis to score a run. MCC would make things interesting by scoring 4 runs to close out the 9th but would come up short of a comeback. Tigers would walk away with a 14-11 win. The first victory on this short season. 

The Tigers return home on Friday, March 24th for a double header against Wright State Lake University. First pitch at 2pm.
