Wyoming, MI – Women’s volleyball opened their season last week with their home opener on Friday against Emmaus University, followed by a matchup at Kuyper College against the Welch College Flames to close out the weekend on Saturday.
On Friday the Tigers got off to a hot start led by Senior Alexa Borgman as they took the first set 25-20. Emmaus would rebound quickly and ultimately take control of the game as they went on to take the next three sets and come away with a 3-1 win.
Despite the loss, several Tigers put together outstanding performances. Alexa Borgaman finished the night with 20 kills and Delaney Sommers finished the day with 30 assists.
Following the loss the Tigers would head down the road to Kuyper College on Saturday to take on the Welch College Flames for an afternoon matchup. This matchup would prove to be all Tigers as they would come away with a dominant sweep, 25-13, 25-15, and 25-18.
Alexa Borgman and Ashlee Anderson led the way with 9 kills each, and Delaney Sommers tallied 18 more assists bringing her weekend total up to 38.
The Tigers next match will be Thursday, September 3, as they head on the road to take on Kalamazoo Valley Community College at 6:30pm.
