Women's Tennis falls to undefeated Calvin University

Mar 17, 2022 | Women's Tennis

Grand Rapids, MI – The Grace Christian University women’s tennis team opened their 2022 campaign Wednesday evening with their first ever official match-up against DIII powerhouse Calvin University. The Knights proved to live up to their current 8-0 undefeated record, sweeping the Tigers 9-0 on their home court.

Mikyala Reynolds at #1 singles and Amiah Lake at #5 singles were able to notch a game against their very talented opponents, and Reynolds and Olivia Rachoy also secured one game at #1 doubles.

“In spite of playing well, the team lost to a very good Calvin team. We are proud of our players, and it was a good start to the season for us," said Head Coach Jon Bushen.  "We look to build off what we learned and continue to get better and compete at a high level.”

Bushen added how proud he and Assistant Coach Brittany Kozakiewicz were of the players’ effort and how excited they were for their upcoming season.

With Saturday’s match against Alma College in the process of likely rescheduling due to weather, the Tigers will next take the court on March 26 at Bethel College.
