Dawn has been with Grace Christian University since 2010. Dawn is nationally board certified in counseling (NCC) and a Certified Gatekeeper Trainer for the QPR Institute working in suicide prevention. Dawn is interested in the biological, psychological, social and spiritual well-being of individuals. Her desire is that individuals would see themselves as God sees them: individuals of great worth. God created us to be thinking beings, and we tend to behave the way we think. By approaching counseling from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, she hopes to help individuals see where thinking errors impact the way they behave. In response, she hopes to help students and clients correct thinking errors and align their thoughts with the truth of scripture. For we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
One of Dawn’s passions is reaching out to students who have been told they cannot succeed in college. From her own experience, Dawn has learned that anyone can learn and succeed in higher education if provided the right support and encouragement.
Dawn’s other passion is helping individuals navigate the journey of grief. Dawn is a GriefShare facilitator at several local churches and a local children’s grief ministry.
