Coach Bushen is a 1998 graduate of Hamilton High School, where he competed in tennis and golf for four years. He went onto Central Michigan University to get his Bachelor’s degree where studied sports medicine for the first 2 years, where his continued passion for playing and coaching sports began. Graduating with a teaching degree in Business Education with a Computer Science minor in 2003, he began his teaching career at Wyoming Park High School (now Wyoming High School), in 2004. While teaching he completed his Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Western Michigan University in 2009.
Shortly after graduation, he began coaching the Varsity Boys and Girls tennis teams at Wyoming Park in 2005. He coached both varsity teams until 2018, and again coached the boys in the fall of 2019 and 2020. With over 15 years of coaching experience right here in West Michigan, he is excited to work with our student athletes.
Coach Bushen is married to his beautiful wife Heidi, has a handsome young adopted son, Grady, and resides in Hudsonville, MI. Currently he is still a business and multimedia teacher for Wyoming High School.
His hobbies include tennis, golfing, getting outdoors and exploring parts of the country with his family and building relationships and networking. His family attends Trinity Mission Church, in the Wealthy Street Neighborhood and has been involved in Young Life, Youth For Christ, and FCA at different times in his career.
“Joining the coaching staff is a great opportunity for me to build and develop the tennis program that has already been established and achieve greater success,” said Coach Bushen. “I look forward to having the opportunity to coach, mentor, and work with the great staff, students, and tennis players at Grace Christian University into the future.”
