The Tigers did have a club golf team back in 2010 that participated in a few tournaments, but this will be the first time in school history the sport is offered as an official NCCAA collegiate program on both the men’s and women’s sides.
Current Assistant Athletic Director Cory Jamieson will take the reigns as the program leader and Head Coach – leading a sport that he has found a renewed passion for since his time on the basketball court at Grace as a student-athlete over a decade ago.
“I’m ecstatic to jumpstart the golf program at Grace and see where God takes it,” said Coach Jamieson. “The sport of golf is growing nationwide in every metric, and the goal is for our program to grow with it and build something special for years to come.”
The team will utilize a few different local courses and facilities for practice, with LE Kaufman Golf Course being the home of the majority of preparation. Similar to Grace baseball, tennis, and track and field, the Tigers will participate in the NCCAA’s Division I, but will regularly participate in Invitationals with NCAA and NAIA competition.
If you are a high school golfer, or know of any high school golfers that are looking for an opportunity to compete at the next level, please contact cjamieson@gracechristian.edu or fill out our recruit form, here.
“Starting at ground zero, opportunity abounds and I’m ready to start bringing in students to compete on the course for God’s Glory,” said Coach Jamieson. “Come grow with us!”
