Muskegon, MI – In cold and wet conditions, the Grace Christian University cross country team competed in the Jayhawk Invite this past weekend at the University Park Golf Course on the campus of Muskegon Community College.
The Tigers continued to focus on racing strategies for Nationals next month with a focus on passing and competitiveness. “Considering the conditions, the guys ran well,” commented Grace assistant coach Bill Bird. “The girls ran the best they could considering a couple of them have bad colds right now.”
Kent Herring (Evart, MI) led the men’s squad with an 8k time of 30:09. Lucy Nusbaum (Holland, MI) led the ladies team across the line with a 5k time of 24:04.
The Grace cross country teams now enter the championship portion of their season. First up is the NCCAA North/Midwest Regional Meet in Ankeny, IA this coming Saturday, October 21st. Then the Tigers will travel to Warsaw, IN for the NCCAA Cross Country National Championships on November 10th.
