Oct 29, 2022 | JV Men's Basketball

Wyoming, MI – Your Grace Christian JV Mens Basketball squad welcomed Grace College (IN) for the first home match-up of the season on Thursday evening.

In the first half, the Tigers would find success with shots around the arch, while Grace College would look to play the ball inside to their bigs for baskets. GCU would also find an edge from points from the bench. Outscoring Grace College 19-10 from bench points.

In the second half, the Tigers would struggle to score including going 50% from the FT line. This allowed Grace College to close the gap and finish regulation tied at 72 a piece.
In OT, both LeDarius Lyons & Jordan Cobb would shine for the Tigers. Lifting the Tigers to an 85-84 victory over Grace College.

Player Of The Game Goes To: LeDarius Lyons – 20pts, 4 Reb & 3 Asst.

Coach Karlion Jackson had this to say on the matchup:
“We saw a lot of good things. We felt our defense was good at times and offensively we were able to make shots. We put a lot of time into our offense this week and we saw that work pay off”.

We also heard from Tigers, Jordan Cobb:
“Overall we played well. We missed a lot of free throws but shot the ball a lot better than we did our previous game”.

The Tigers are now 1-1 on the young season and will be back at home Nov. 1st vs Aquinas College.
