Hi, my name is Nevaeh Mancha, and I’m a senior at Grace Christian University majoring in business. The business program here at Grace Christian University is inspiring; I truly believe that the community here pushes you to find your specific purpose within the business field.
How I Found Grace
I found Grace through volleyball. My coach reached out to me, and unbeknownst to me, that initial contact was just a glimpse of what I would experience here at Grace. During the open gyms, I found a community and a supportive atmosphere that I really loved. That welcoming environment made my decision easy.
Learn, Grow, Serve
I think at any college or university, you’re going to learn and grow; that’s what a university is for. But the Learn, Grow, and Serve objective is really unique to Grace because you get to learn and grow in more aspects than just education. You get to develop spiritually, within your community, and in any aspect of your character you’d like to strengthen. And you genuinely learn how to serve your community, whatever field you may be going into.
Why Choose Business at Grace?
If you’re considering going into the business field at Grace, I would highly recommend connecting with your professors who are the business department heads. They’re going to give you many insightful tips and considerations you need to succeed in the business world. Their guidance goes beyond textbooks; it’s practical wisdom that will serve you throughout your career.
The Value of My Degree
My specific motivation for earning a college degree is to make my family and the people around me proud. I’m a first-generation college student, and that drives me to succeed. I also want to use the talents and gifts given to me by God to serve the community around me, wherever that may be. This degree is my pathway to doing both.
How Grace Has Shaped Me
I’ve developed a lot in my character during my time here, specifically in the area of community. I’ve learned how to develop deep relationships that can impact wherever I may go in the business field. Those interpersonal skills and genuine connections are just as valuable as the business knowledge I’ve gained.
People Who’ve Made an Impact
Two professors have significantly impacted my life at Grace.
Professor DeYoung has taught me what business as ministry looks like. Business can look like anything out in the world, but he’s shown me the importance of having a Christian perspective and a Christlike mindset when entering the business field. That framework has changed how I view my future career.
Professor McGillicuddy has taught me what genuine community looks like within the professor-student relationship. He’s demonstrated how professors can genuinely care about you and your growth. That model of mentorship has shown me what authentic investment in others looks like.
A Day in Someone Else’s Shoes
If I could swap places with any Grace staff member for a day, I would want to swap places with President Kemper. I want to see what his day-to-day looks like, running everything, overseeing decisions, and managing the entire university. I would just like to see that top-level perspective and understand what it takes to lead an institution like Grace.
Just for Fun
My go-to coffee order definitely depends on the season, but for fall, I’m that person, a pumpkin spice latte all the way. I love everything pumpkin!
The Grace Impact
Grace Christian University has shaped me into a businesswoman with purpose. As a first-generation college student, I came here wanting to make my family proud, and I’m leaving with so much more: a Christian perspective on business, deep relationships, and a genuine desire to serve my community through my career.
For anyone considering the Business Program at Grace, I can confidently say this experience will do more than prepare you academically. It will help you find your specific purpose in the business world, develop your character, and teach you how to integrate your faith into everything you do. The professors care deeply about your growth, and the community will challenge you to become the best version of yourself.
