Wyoming, MI – The #7 Simmons College Falcons came to the Aldrich Athletic Center Friday night and the Tigers prevailed, 75-69. Prior to this day, the Tigers defeated another top 10 nationally ranked team, #3 Great Lakes Christian College.
"I don’t feel we played our best game tonight, but I felt like our toughness was great," commented Grace Head Coach Ryan Krombeen. "Simmons is a very scrappy, physical team that can take you out of your element."
The Tigers would carry over their offensive momentum from the night before, highlighted by a 10-2 run to start the game, capped off by a three-point shot from Bankeys Omari. They finished the game an astonishing 12-26 from downtown.
Junior guard Melvin Frazier gave his post-game thoughts.
"The energy we played with was unmatched and you can tell the chemistry is starting to flow a lot better from a team standpoint. And also the support we received was amazing! The fans played a big part in giving us energy and a great atmosphere to perform in back to back games like that."
Frazier led the team with 13 points, followed by Kellum Bridgeforth with 11 and Zac Yorke with 10. Bridgeforth stuffed the stat sheet with 8 rebounds and 6 assists to follow up a great performance Thursday night.
"This is just the start of something bigger," added Frazier.
Seniors Kellum Bridgeforth and Cole Powell were honored on Senior Night prior to getting their last home win.
"Cole and Kellum had 2 very solid senior nights as well, it was great to see them come out of their last home game with a win," said Coach Krombeen. "They are great leaders and difference makers both on and off the court."
The Tigers take on reigning NCCAA DII National Champion Campbellsville-Harrodsburg Thursday, February 2nd, in Harrodsburg, KY.
