What Our Student
Say About Us

Maddison H
My experience as a dual-enrolled student at Grace allowed me to dip my toe into the waters of the college experience. I was able to adjust to college through a steady introduction of classes prior to becoming a freshman. This experience helped me gain confidence in my abilities and encouraged my excitement to begin my college career. I learned quickly that Grace was somewhere I could thrive, and from this encouragement, I came prepared and excited to invest myself in the community and appreciate these next steps in my life and education.

Doing dual enrollment at Grace did a great service to me personally, professionally, and academically. Being able to take a college course while still in high school allowed me to learn how to interact with my peers in a college setting, how to communicate with professors, and prepared me for the more rigorous coursework that comes with college-level academia.

Dual-enrolling at Grace was a great way to get a taste of the college experience before being immersed in full-time classes or on-campus living. It made me realize that Grace was the school for me and gave me familiarity with the campus and comfortability with the staff and faculty before I started as a full-time student.

Dual Enrollment saved me a ton of money, since I was able to get an entire semester of credits done for free while I was still in high school. Dual Enrollment made my first official semester much easier since I already knew the campus layout and had already met many staff and students.

High School Students

How is Dual Enrollment credit offered at my high school?

Grace Christian University offers college classes at your high school by utilizing teachers who are highly qualified in their fields of study. Your instructor will either be a visiting professor from Grace or a qualified teacher already at your school who holds a Master degree or higher in the content area.

How do students apply for Dual Enrollment credit?

  1. Speak with your guidance counselor to see what classes are being offered and if they fit into your schedule.
  2. Fill out the short Dual Enrollment Application. You must have a parent or guardian with you when you complete the application as they have their own section to read and acknowledge.
  3. Sign the Principal Letter when it is provided by your school.

Will the credits I earn transfer to another college?

Grace Christian University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This is the same accrediting body for universities like the University of Michigan, Grand Valley State University, and Michigan State University. Because of this, your Grace class should transfer to the college of your choice. However, each institution determines its own policies and procedures for accepting transfer credits, so it is always a good idea to check with your desired institution.

How do I check if my course will transfer to my desired institution?

First, see if the college has a transfer equivalency webpage where you can check if Grace Christian University’s (used to be called Grace Bible College) transferable courses are listed. If not, send an email to the college’s Registrar’s Office asking about the transferability of the course you would like to take (make sure to include the course description and Grace’s HLC accreditation status). If they ask to see the course syllabus, feel free to contact sspriegel@gracechristian.edu to request a copy of the syllabus.

What is the cost of Dual Enrollment classes?

Through the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act from the State of Michigan the entire cost of tuition for these classes is free to the student! The limit on the number of free credits a high school student can receive is 30 credits. Students may be responsible for the cost of the textbook in some classes.

What if I change my mind and want to drop a class I signed up for?

Students may drop a class without penalty up to two weeks after the class begins. If you are thinking about dropping the class, talk with your school counselor. If you decide to move ahead with dropping the class, be sure to inform your instructor.

How do I request a transcript?

Students may access their unofficial transcript through the Grace student portal (my.gracechristian.edu). Upon course completion, students can request to have their official transcript sent to any college they choose. Go to gracechristian.edu/transcript-request to order your transcript through the National Student Clearinghouse. Note: there is a $10 fee per official transcript.

How is Dual Enrollment credit offered to homeschooled students?

Grace Christian University offers dual enrollment classes on its campus at 1011 Aldon St. Wyoming, MI, and also online. Courses are offered in both fall and spring semesters. On-Campus classes usually meet two days per week on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. There are occasional Monday evening only classes and never any classes on Friday. Online courses are offered in an asynchronous manner over a 14-week semester.

Who is eligible for Dual Enrollment?

Sophomores through Seniors! Students must have a 3.0 GPA and parental permission to be eligible. High school transcripts proving eligibility need to be emailed to kclassen@gracechristian.edu.

How do homeschooled students apply for dual enrollment credit?

  1. Fill out the short Dual Enrollment Application. A parent or guardian must be present when you complete the application, as they have their own section to read and acknowledge.
  2. Select your classes by contacting Kurt Classen, Manager of Dual Enrollment at kclassen@gracechristian.edu. Students are eligible for all 100 or 200 level courses if prerequisites are met.

How do homeschooled students perform in college classes?

We find that homeschooled students excel in our dual enrollment classes. Their skills in time management, along with their Biblically based foundation, make them an excellent fit in our college courses.

Will the credits I earn transfer to another college?

Grace Christian University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

First, see if the college has a transfer equivalency page where you can check if Grace Christian University’s (formerly Grace Bible College) transferable courses are listed.

If paying out of pocket, the cost is $555 per 3-credit course.

If partnering/co-opting with a high school or homeschool group for tuition aid (especially through the Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act), Grace will request a Principal Letter to be presented on the student’s behalf from the partner institution outlining the student’s eligibility for dual enrollment and the tuition payment amount.

What if I change my mind and want to drop a class I signed up for?

Students may drop a class without penalty up to two weeks after the class begins. Email sspriegel@gracechristian.edu with your request to drop.

How do I get a Grace Transcript?

Students may access their unofficial transcript through the Grace student portal (my.gracechristian.edu). Upon course completion, students can request their official transcript be sent to any college they choose. Go to gracechristian.edu/transcript-request to order your transcript through the National Student Clearinghouse. Note, there is a fee for an official transcript.
