Alumni Spotlight: Chris Smith

Aug 21, 2023 | Alumni

“You don’t have to be in ministry to do ministry.”

Chris Smith attended Grace Christian University for both his bachelor’s degree (on campus) and his master’s degree (online). In 2020, Chris received his bachelor’s in Biblical studies (with an emphasis in youth ministry), and in 2022, he received his master’s degree in ministry.

Chris now lives in Pigeon, MI with his wife. He currently works at Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Schools, coaching both soccer and basketball and working as the Tech Support Coordinator. He also teaches PE classes for Pre-K through 8th grade at Cross Lutheran School in Pigeon, MI.

When asked about his time at Grace, Chris shared these memorable words with us: “My time at Grace helped to make an impact on my life and career in the sense that – even though it might sound cliche – my time at Grace made me want to be a better person in all facets of life… My mentors, Cory Jamieson, Coach Krombeen, and Dr. Mark Carroll… made me want to become a better Christian and helped me realize that you don’t have to be in ministry to do ministry.”

Chris also shared about his fond memories of Grace JV basketball and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Thank you, Chris, for sharing your story!
