At Grace Christian University we know that an educational program is only as good as the educators and staff that run the programs. That is why our standards for our employees are so high. We want only the best educators for our students so that they can get the most out of their education and be truly prepared for the workforce upon graduation. Providing the best education possible means vetting potential hires so that all our professors are education leaders in their chosen fields.

Education Leaders at Grace

Hiring professors with real-life experience is vital to providing quality education. No matter the degree path we strive to ensure courses are taught by experienced professionals and thought leaders. Check out the story of esteemed professor, Dr. Shaw, which highlights the standards our professors live up to.

Dr. Shaw’s Story

Dr. Scott Shaw is one of Grace’s most esteemed staff members, serving as the Dean and Professor of Social Sciences and Human Services. Over the years, Dr. Shaw studied in several different areas. These disciplines include theology, law enforcement, and social work, and it is through his education that he acquired the various jobs he previously held. Dr. Shaw has first-hand experience working as a therapist, a law enforcement, and a clinical supervisor. It is these various jobs that qualify him to be an educational leader as he works to improve Grace.

Dr. Shaw as an Education Leader

Although he’s the Dean, Dr. Shaw’s passion for teaching and learning is still seen today in his dedication to mentoring students. Through educational leadership and the creation of new degree programs he expanded the academic horizons of Grace Christian University. The fact that he stays engaged in his various professions reflects his commitment to learning. He fosters growth, in a way that benefits both his students and Grace itself. As professor and Dean, he brings a love for teaching and a level of expertise to Grace Christian University’s Human Services department.

Furthermore, Dr. Shaw plays a pivotal role in making Grace a more welcoming university. He has spearheaded several initiatives to enhance student well-being and increase academic success. Dr. Shaw supported the Center for Hispanic Education at Grace Christian University from the beginning. His drive for creating inclusivity is what makes him an educational leader at Grace. Through an increase in online degree programs in Spanish, he increased education opportunities for Spanish-speaking students. Dr. Shaw has taken a proactive approach to creating and supporting a diverse community on campus. The popularity of programs like Psychology in the Spanish language highlights the success of this initiative.
