Erin Segura – Grace Alumna

Mar 29, 2024 | Alumni

Oftentimes you hear people talk about “growing in their faith”, but what does that really mean? It can be such a vague phrase – especially because growing in your faith can look different depending on the person. That being said, Grace is dedicated to helping students grow in their faith and helping them on their spiritual journey. Grace takes specific steps to ensure students are able to grow in their faith. The way Grace accomplishes this is by equipping students to take their faith seriously and giving them the tools they need to make their faith their own. A great example of this is found in the life of Erin Segura. Read below to see her story and how Grace helped her grow in her faith.

Erin Segura – Grace Alumna

Erin Segura is a graduate of Grace Christian University who attended from 2009 until 2015. At Grace, she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education

During her time at Grace, Erin was part of the basketball, volleyball, and soccer teams. She also took part in Heart 2 Heart ministries as well as taking leadership roles at her local youth group and Sunday school. Currently, Erin lives in Costa Rica where she works one of the most challenging yet rewarding jobs of all as a stay-at-home mother.

Growing Through Grace

When interviewed about Grace’s impact on her life, Erin had a lot to say about how Grace helped her grow in her faith. Her love for the Lord and her desire to grow in her faith is inspiring to see. We hope that other students can learn from her example.

When asked what she enjoyed about Grace, she had this to say: “I am glad I went to Grace because I had great Bible classes with a doctrine that is true. I met lots of people who wanted to grow spiritually and dedicate their lives to God. Whether in their ministry work or daily lives, they wanted to serve God above all else.”

It warms our hearts to know that Grace’s campus is full of students who truly want to serve God and who want to nurture their relationship with our Lord.

Making her faith her own

According to Erin, it was Dr. Matthew Loverin who really encouraged her to think about what she believes. It is always good to examine why you believe what you do and it’s great to see that Grace’s professors are encouraging students to do just that.

It’s because of this encouragement that Erin began to look for proof to support her faith. When asked about this Erin said, “Grace gave me some of the closest friends I have. It challenged me to grow my faith and not just rely on my parents’ faith.”

So many students have never truly examined their faith or why they believe what they believe. While it’s a great thing for parents to impart their faith to their children, that shouldn’t be where their faith journey ends. We at Grace believe that students always have room to grow in their faith no matter where they are in their journey. By truly examining what you believe and why, you can grow much stronger in your faith than you ever thought possible. Just like Erin, you can make your faith your own.
