Grace Cross Country Adds Whitehall Runner, Kristina Brandenburg

May 30, 2023 | Athletics, Cross Country

Grand Rapids, MI – The Grace Christian University cross country program is excited to announce the addition of Kristina Brandenburg, a homeschool student who competed in cross country with Whitehall High School. Brandenburg resides in Twin Lake, MI, where she lives with her parents, Scott and Valorie Brandenburg.  She also has three siblings, Lynsie, Ryan, and Cassandra.  In addition to cross country, Brandenburg is also active in theater and has participated in basketball and gymnastics.

“I chose Grace because they stand for the things I believe in and it is an amazing community,” commented Brandenburg at her signing this past weekend.  “The team seems fun and it is a great opportunity and community.” She also spoke about the importance of teamwork at her signing. “You are a part of a team and you are important,” added Brandenburg.

Head coach Gerry Verwey is thrilled to add Brandenburg to the cross country team next season. “I knew right away that Grace would be a great fit for her and that she would really enjoy our team,” noted Verwey. “She brings energy and a smile every time she’s been with us and has a genuine joy for running.”

Brandenburg will be pursuing a business degree during her time at Grace.

The cross country season will kick off in August and the team will be looking to build off a successful run from this past school year. Stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks as the official meet schedule is finalized and the Tigers prepare for their 2023 campaign.
