The Grace Tigers golf team started off their 2023 season with a bang this past weekend. After they shook off the first round jitters on Friday in Battle Creek, MI at Bedford Valley Golf Course, the Tigers broke the overall team scoring record by eight strokes on Saturday, totaling 340 as a team.
Freshman Brandon Katsma topped Head Coach Eric Zudweg’s scoring record on Saturday, shooting a 76 to lead the Tigers. Sophomore Cody DeNeui was solid both days with a 79 on Friday and an 82 on Saturday.
“We started out a little shaky on Day 1, but it felt like the guys overall really settled in on Day 2 and we were able to beat the school record,” said Coach Zudweg. “Overall it was a great kickoff weekend for the team and hopefully we can break that record a few more times this season.”
The Tigers return to action in Tecumseh, MI at the Adrian College Invitational on Friday, September 15.
