JV tops Dayspring, keeps season win record within reach

Jan 31, 2022 | JV Men's Basketball

Lake Zurich, IL – The Grace JV men’s basketball team upped their win streak to five Saturday afternoon in Illinois, defeating Dayspring Bible College’s varsity team by a score of 63-55.

Adam Rearick led the Tigers with 15 points and 8 rebounds, followed by Jordan Cobb who entered the starting line-up in the absence of leading scorer Ethan Clason and scored 9 points and had 2 steals.

“We came in the first half really sluggish,” said Grace Head Coach Ryan Krombeen. “After a long bus ride, we just didn’t seem to have the energy we needed and it showed early. Thankfully our bench came in and provided us a spark, especially Josh Zerfus and Travis Blasko. Dayspring is always a tough place to play with incredibly loud acoustics and a court that is about 10 feet shorter than ours. Thankfully we were able to pull out the win without our top two scorers, but we will need to play much better if we want to beat Aquinas and Cornerstone in our final two games.”

The Tigers face the Aquinas Saints at 7:30 pm on the road Tuesday and will cap off their season on February 7th at Cornerstone. The Tigers currently sit at 17-7 on the season, which means they are within reach of tying the all-time season wins record for the JV program if they win out.
