Christmas is a season of joy, wonder, and reflection. It’s a time to marvel at the miracle of life, a wonder we see in the world around us and, most profoundly, in the story of Jesus Christ. This year, as you exchange gifts and gather with loved ones, we invite you to reflect on the greatest gift of all: the gift given to us through the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.
The Miracle of Jesus’ Birth
At Christmas, we celebrate the Heavenly Father’s incredible act of love. He sent His Son Jesus into the world, born in a humble stable, to bring light and hope to humanity. As John 1:14 tells us:
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”
The world often simplifies Jesus’ mission, claiming that He came to spread kindness and teach us to love one another. While Jesus demonstrated love in powerful ways, His love was far greater than human understanding. God’s love is the very foundation of the gospel:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son” (John 3:16).
“But God demonstrates His love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Jesus’ love wasn’t limited to acts of compassion or kindness. It was a love that came with a purpose, to redeem us from our sins. He didn’t overlook sin; instead, He offered grace, mercy, and forgiveness. This is what Christmas is all about, Jesus, the Lamb of God, came into the world to be born for us, live among us, and die for us.
Jesus’ Purpose: Life Given for Life
Jesus spent His time on earth teaching, healing, and transforming lives, but His ultimate purpose was to willingly sacrifice Himself for our salvation. As He said:
“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24).
Through His death on the cross, Jesus bore the penalty of sin, making a way for us to cross from death to life. As Peter wrote:
“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).
Celebrating the Gift of Eternal Life
This Christmas, let us remember that the story of Jesus is one of life. His birth brought hope to a weary world, and His death and resurrection secured the promise of eternal life for all who believe.
As you gather with family and friends, may the joy of Christ’s birth fill your heart with peace and gratitude. From all of us at Grace Christian University, we pray that this season deepens your faith, renews your hope, and reminds you of the incredible gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Merry Christmas, and may the light of Christ shine brightly in your life this season and always!
