Finding a job as a college student can be challenging, but on-campus student jobs at Grace Christian University offers students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and give you an opportunity to be more engaged in the campus community. These roles allow students to develop professional skills, build relationships, and contribute to the university in meaningful ways. There are many opportunities for students interested in leadership, marketing, ministry, or hands-on work, there are a variety of positions available that provide both professional and personal growth.

Here are just a few of the on-campus job opportunities.

Resident Assistant (RA)

The role of a Resident Assistant is both a leadership position and a ministry opportunity. RAs serve as mentors, role models, and community builders within the residence halls, helping to cultivate an environment that is spiritually uplifting and academically supportive. They are responsible for building relationships with residents, assisting with personal, social, and spiritual development, and enforcing university policies.

RAs also play an active role in student life by leading residence hall meetings, organizing community-building activities, and having meaningful conversations. They are expected to maintain a presence on campus, particularly during nights and weekends, and must be available to assist students as needed. This position is well-suited for students who have strong interpersonal skills, a heart for service, and a desire to support their peers. 

Hours: 12-14 hours per week.

Library Legend (Information Desk Assistant)

Working as a Library Legend in the university’s Library & Learning Center provides students with the opportunity to develop customer service and administrative skills. In this role, students will assist faculty, staff, and fellow students by checking out materials, organizing books, and helping with research and reference questions. They will also be responsible for monitoring student behavior in the library, maintaining a quiet and productive study environment, and assisting with proctoring exams.

In the evenings and on weekends, Library Legends take on additional responsibilities, including overseeing the library space independently, supervising student behavior, and providing tutoring or academic coaching. This position requires attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining a welcoming and organized learning environment.

Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends as needed.

Student Activities & Athletics Intern

Students who are passionate about event planning, student engagement, and athletics will find this internship particularly rewarding. The Student Activities & Athletics Intern plays a key role in enhancing the student experience by organizing and promoting intramural sports, athletic events, and student-led activities.

Interns will work closely with the university’s athletic administration, helping to coordinate schedules, advertise upcoming games and events, and facilitate student participation in athletic programming. They will also assist in chapel announcements, campus communication efforts, and halftime entertainment at home games. This role is ideal for students who enjoy leadership, teamwork, and event coordination, as well as those who are interested in student affairs or sports management.

Hours: 7-10 hours per week.

Marketing Internship

The Marketing Internship at Grace Christian University is an excellent opportunity for students interested in advertising, digital marketing, and content creation. This role provides hands-on experience in producing marketing materials that support enrollment efforts and campus engagement. Interns will be responsible for creating and editing video and photo content that highlights student life and campus events. They will also help manage social media platforms by producing video blogs and ensuring consistent and effective messaging.

In addition to content creation, interns will gain experience with media placement, learning how to develop marketing strategies for both digital and traditional advertising. They will work closely with the marketing team, attend training sessions, and collaborate on creative projects. This internship is ideal for students pursuing degrees in marketing, communications, business, or videography, as well as those with a strong interest in content creation and digital media.

Hours: 10 hours per week.

Student Maintenance Worker

For students who enjoy hands-on work, the Student Maintenance Worker position provides an opportunity to develop practical skills in campus upkeep and repair. These workers assist the Facilities Department with general maintenance tasks, including minor electrical and plumbing repairs, painting, and groundskeeping.

During the winter months, student maintenance workers help with snow removal, ensuring that walkways and campus grounds remain safe. They are also responsible for setting up and tearing down events, cleaning common areas, and reporting larger maintenance issues to supervisors. This position requires physical stamina, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to work in a variety of weather conditions.

Hours: Flexible, depending on campus needs.

Maintenance-Team

Kitchen Staff (Dining Hall)

Students who enjoy working in a team-oriented environment may find a fulfilling role in the Dining Hall as a kitchen staff member. This position involves assisting with food preparation, setting up and maintaining food stations, and ensuring the cleanliness of the dining area.

Workers are responsible for washing dishes, wiping down tables, taking out the trash, and following food safety and sanitation guidelines. This role provides students with experience in food service, teamwork, and time management while contributing to the overall dining experience for the campus community.

Hours: Flexible, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Kahawa Coffee Barista

Working at Kahawa Coffee allows students to gain experience in customer service and hospitality while developing barista skills. Baristas are responsible for preparing and serving espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages while maintaining a clean and welcoming coffee shop environment.

In addition to drink preparation, baristas handle customer transactions, restock supplies, and ensure that the coffee bar is properly maintained. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting, and a willingness to learn coffee preparation techniques. It is ideal for students who enjoy working in a social environment and providing excellent customer service.

Hours: Flexible, including morning and afternoon shifts.

Kahawa-Drink

Student Worker (Business Office)

Students interested in business, finance, or administration may find the Business Office Student Worker position particularly valuable. This role involves assisting with office tasks such as processing invoices, handling paperwork, managing financial documents, and responding to student inquiries regarding billing and payments.

In this position, students gain experience in office organization, data entry, and administrative support. They work closely with staff to ensure the smooth operation of financial services within the university. This job is ideal for students who are detail-oriented, organized, and interested in developing professional skills in business operations.

Hours: Flexible, with shifts scheduled around student class schedules.
