Softball Splits with ACC in Final Home Game

Wyoming, MI – Grace Christian Softball hosted Alpena Community College on Monday afternoon for a double header. This was their first time meeting ACC, who was 2-19 overall. 

Game One

Game One remained scoreless for both teams in the first three innings. A bunt by Skylar Lowe at the bottom of the fourth would get her on first base. A single by Renee Viles Gable followed by a bunt by Emma Balkema sent Lowe home for the lone run of the game. For the remaining three innings, neither team gave up a run. Tammy Perrotta threw all 7 innings, only allowing 6 hits. The Tigers came out on top 1-0.

Game Two 

The Tigers came out ready to hit in Game Two, as Lowe would hit a double to get things started. Another double by Viles Gable would send Lowe home, putting the Tigers up 1-0. ACC scored 2 runs in the third but Grace fired back with 2 more runs of their own after a second double by Lowe. The Tigers would tie it up in the fifth after a double by Lexie Alexander would send Lowe home. The game remained tied up until the top of the seventh when the Lumberjacks would score one final run as they claimed the victory 5-4. Lowe ended the game with 3 hits, 3 runs, and an RBI. Emma Balkema pitched 4.1 innings and struck out 5. 

Grace travels to Concordia University in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, April 24 for a double header at 3pm and 5pm.
