The Christmas Season
We’re coming into that time of year, which is so incredible. It’s incredible because of the commercial, displays before us, because of the music, because of the movies. It creates this. It’s the time in the spirit of Christmas. It’s time to be joyful. It’s time to stop the problems, and make sure that we just love on one another. And, you know, Christmas is a special time of year. But it’s interesting to me that even if I’ve traveled to parts of the world where they have no belief in the incarnation of Jesus Christ, that they celebrate Christmas, they celebrate by a special day, by a feast, or by gift giving.
What Makes Christmas Incredible
And, Christmas really is incredible. But what is it that makes Christmas incredible? You and I would probably agree that it’s Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ, not just because he’s the reason for the season, but Jesus Christ Himself is incredible. Think about even his entrance into this world. It was phenomenal. It was incredible. He came into the earth, announced by angels to both his his mother Mary, her fiancé Joseph, the relatives Elizabeth and Zachariah, and then even his appearance in the manger because there’s no room in the inn for this desperately pregnant traveler, and therefore she brings birth to the Son of God in the manger and lays him there in this place reserved for animals.
The Miraculous Arrival of Jesus
And that’s the entrance of Jesus Christ, the incredible Savior, into our world. He comes into the world in such a manner that we would never have imagined. And as he does, we realize that he’s from the East. The wise men come to worship him. The angels appear in the hills outside of that sleepy town of Bethlehem to announce, behold, unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
What an incredible announcement! The whole sky was filled with angels as they said, Glory to God in the highest. And and the shepherds erupted with energy and ran into town to see if this was really true. This amazing thing. I often think those shepherds would have never forgotten that day. And they come and they find, just as they were told, Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in this place reserved for animals.
The Life and Mission of Christ
What an incredible story. What an incredible person, Jesus Christ, who came into the world. He grows and he comes to live and give his life for the sake of all humanity, you and me. He dies on a cruel cross for the sake of people who deserve the cross. And Jesus Christ is incredible in every way. He dies, he resurrects, and he returns to the father.
Why Grace Exists
We’re not here. We don’t exist. If not for the person of Jesus Christ. He’s that incredible. You see, all of our curriculum, all of our classes are designed to live under, to be taught under the authority of Scripture. And Jesus Christ is central. It says in the Bible that these things are written, that you may believe that he is the Son of God, and in believing you may have life.
When it comes down to this year and thinking about Christmas, please stop worship with us. Celebrate the reality that Jesus Christ is incredible. We would worship him as they did 2000 years ago. Join us and celebrate and pray that God would be our message to the world.
