For many institutions, “advising day” signifies a day of no classes as students meet with their academic advisors to set up their classes for the next semester. As Grace Christian University continues to serve all of the students’ needs, advising day is much more than setting up classes for the future! In between meetings with academic advisors, students were given options to learn more about their emotional health, financial health and were given the option to enjoy some retail therapy.
The H-3 project (Head, Heart and Hands) is an initiative sponsored by the Grace Campus Counseling Center and takes place 4 times per semester. During this specific event Third Chair Counseling Center, a local counseling center focused on college-aged students, shared excellent information regarding the importance of how strategic rest time and food intake make immediate and long term impacts on student wellness.
Financial wellness is an important part of being a holistically healthy student! We are thankful for financial planner and Board of Education Member, Mike Zuverink, who donated his time to share financial counseling with our students. We are thankful to have such an involved and impactful board who offers their expertise for the betterment of our students.
Later in the afternoon students were invited to enjoy some retail therapy in the greater Grand Rapids area. This event sponsored by Student Affairs, Becky Karsten and Gabby Wright brought students to some 2nd hand resale shops to enjoy time together and find treasures. Grand Rapids has many, many options for shipping and dining in all price points – there is something for everyone!
